A church is a community of people who are committed to Jesus Christ and each other through worship and service:
"Church" in the NT (Greek ekklesia) mostly designates a local congregation of Christians and never a building; "ekklesia was a meeting or assembly" (New Bible Dictionary, p. 199).
We as a Chicago neighborhood church seek to take people in the local context and walk with them to know, worship, and share Jesus Christ. This leads us to be faithful to the inerrant Word of God" the Bible, and yet function within the culture in which we find ourselves.
As Christians we are to be in the world, but not of the world. So by God's grace we strive to "strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up...[and to] run with endurance the race God has set before us" (Hebrews 12:1b NLT).
